How to use Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker
Before You Begin
- Inspect the Cooker: Ensure the gasket (rubber ring), safety valve, and pressure release mechanisms are in good condition.
- Clean the Cooker: Wash it thoroughly if it’s new or hasn’t been used for a while.
- Read the Manual: Familiarize yourself with the manufacturer’s instructions, as specific models may have unique features.
Prepare the Ingredients
- Chop and Measure: Prepare your ingredients as needed.
- Add Liquid: Add at least 1-2 cups of liquid (water, broth, etc.), as pressure cookers need steam to build pressure. Never operate the cooker without liquid.
Fill the Cooker
- Avoid Overfilling: Fill the cooker no more than 2/3 full, or 1/2 full for foods that expand (like beans or grains).
- Place the Ingredients: Arrange the food evenly for uniform cooking.
Seal the Cooker
- Position the Lid: Align the lid with the cooker body and lock it securely.
- Check the Gasket: Ensure the gasket is seated correctly and forms a tight seal.
Cooking
- Set the Heat: Place the cooker on medium to high heat to build pressure. Wait for the steam to escape from the vent.
- Close the Valve: Once steam escapes steadily, place the weight or pressure regulator (if applicable) on the vent.
- Monitor Pressure: Reduce the heat slightly when the cooker reaches pressure. Use the timer based on the recipe.
